Ducati Enters Enduro: Desmo450 EDX 450 Launched for 2026

Ducati has officially revealed its first dedicated off-road competition machine built for enduro and cross-country events: the Desmo450 EDX. Based on the Desmo450 MX motocross platform, this 450 cc machine brings Ducati’s characteristic Desmodromic engine, high-end componentry and electronic sophistication into the enduro domain.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Engine: 449.6 cc single-cylinder with Desmodromic valve control, delivering approximately 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 39.5 ft-lb (≈ 53.5 Nm) of torque at 7,500 rpm.
  • Chassis & suspension: A twin-spar aluminium frame derived from the motocross version, plus Showa 49 mm upside-down closed-cartridge forks (310 mm travel) and a fully adjustable Showa monoshock (301 mm travel). The rear wheel is 18″ (instead of typical 19″) for enduro terrain.
  • Enduro-specific components: Larger fuel tank (8.5 litres / 2.25 US gal) for longer range, skid plate, hand-guards, and dedicated Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres. The bike’s wet weight (without fuel) is about 236 lb (≈ 107 kg) according to Ducati.
  • Electronics & modes: The Desmo450 EDX includes a complete electronic package: closed-loop off-road traction control, riding modes, quick-shift, engine-brake control and an app-configurable system (X-Link) for tuning.

Why It Matters

Ducati’s entry into the dedicated enduro/cross-country segment marks a significant strategic move. While the brand has long been associated with superbikes and road-sport machines, the Desmo450 EDX expands its portfolio into serious off-road territory. This helps Ducati reach new riders, environments and expectations. One industry article noted: “Ducati’s found passion for off-road… one of the reasons was because we want to help even younger generations to discover the world of Ducati.”

Moreover, the Desmo450 EDX’s specification is competitive with top enduro machines, while offering unique traits — the Desmodromic valve system, premium components and Ducati styling set it apart. The 18″ rear wheel and long-travel suspension show that it is built for serious terrain, not just as a motocross adaptation.

Availability & Price

Ducati states that the Desmo450 EDX will start deliveries to North America in January 2026, with later global rollout to follow.

Pricing in the U.S. is listed at approximately US $12,495 for the EDX model, according to initial announcements.
