The 30th edition of the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo delivered exactly what fans hoped for: drama, history, breakthrough performances and another masterclass from Manuel Lettenbichler.
On the legendary Iron Mountain in Eisenerz, Austria, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider secured his fifth Red Bull Erzbergrodeo victory, joining Graham Jarvis and Taddy Blazusiak as the only riders in history to win the world's toughest hard enduro race five times.
But while Lettenbichler's victory was expected, the story of Erzbergrodeo 2026 was much bigger than one rider. A new generation announced itself, electric motorcycles broke into the top 10 for the first time, and only 15 riders managed to conquer the Iron Giant before the four-hour cut-off.
For an event celebrating its 30th anniversary, it was a fitting reminder of why Erzberg remains the benchmark of extreme enduro.
Lettenbichler Delivers Another Erzberg Masterclass
Starting from pole position after a dominant Iron Road Prologue performance, Lettenbichler wasted no time taking control of the race.
Unlike previous years, riders were greeted by dry conditions and a clean start area. With no deep puddles or first-corner chaos to navigate, the German immediately established himself at the front alongside Mitch Brightmore and KTM teammate Trystan Hart.
Brightmore refused to back down in the opening kilometres and briefly traded positions with the defending champion, showing impressive pace against one of the sport's all-time greats.
However, once the race entered the brutal forest sections and technical climbs that define Erzberg, Lettenbichler began to assert his authority.
By the halfway point of the 35km course, he had built a lead of around five minutes and never looked back.
Even a mid-race crash that left him nursing a cut hand could not disrupt his rhythm.
After 3 hours, 5 minutes and 39 seconds of racing, Lettenbichler crossed the finish line to secure one of the most significant victories of his career.
"Five wins at Erzberg is something I've dreamed about for years. To be alongside Graham Jarvis and Taddy Blazusiak means everything, but honestly, I'm already thinking about number six."
The statement sends a clear message to the rest of the hard enduro world: Lettenbichler's dominance is far from over.

Hart Holds Off Roman In Podium Battle
While Lettenbichler disappeared into the distance, the battle for the remaining podium positions became one of the race's defining stories.
Trystan Hart rode a measured race and remained in second place for much of the afternoon, but the Canadian came under increasing pressure from Spain's Mario Roman.
Roman, riding for the MR74 Racing Team, produced one of the strongest rides of the day as he charged through the field and closed the gap on Hart during the latter stages.
The Spaniard ultimately ran out of time to mount a final challenge, crossing the line just over four minutes behind Hart.
Third place marks another major Erzberg podium for Roman and confirms he remains one of the sport's most dangerous riders whenever conditions become extreme.
Mitch Brightmore Proves He Belongs Among The Elite
One of the standout performances of the day came from Britain's Mitch Brightmore.
The young GASGAS rider showed no fear whatsoever, running with Lettenbichler during the opening stages and briefly challenging for the lead.
Although the relentless pace eventually took its toll, Brightmore's fifth-place finish represents one of the biggest results of his career and further cements his status as one of hard enduro's rising stars.
His younger brother Ashton also enjoyed a breakthrough performance, finishing eighth overall and giving British fans plenty to celebrate.
James Moore Continues His Rise
South African rider James Moore continued his rapid progression by securing sixth place overall.
The reigning Junior Hard Enduro World Champion looked composed throughout the race and once again demonstrated why many insiders believe he could become a future Erzberg podium contender.
With several established stars failing to finish, Moore took full advantage and delivered one of the most mature rides of his young career.
Electric Bikes Make Erzberg History
Perhaps the most significant development of the weekend came from the electric motorcycle category.
For the first time in Red Bull Erzbergrodeo history, electric motorcycles not only competed in the main event but finished comfortably inside the top ten.
Eddie Karlsson overcame brake issues and technical problems aboard his Stark Varg to finish ninth overall.
The result represents a landmark moment for electric off-road motorcycles, proving they can compete against the best combustion-powered machines in the most demanding race in the world.
Fellow electric rider Toby Martyn also secured a remarkable 12th-place finish on another Stark Varg.
For years, many questioned whether battery-powered motorcycles could survive the brutality of Erzberg. This weekend provided a convincing answer.
Jarvis Creates Another Piece Of History
At 51 years old, Graham Jarvis somehow continues to rewrite expectations.
The five-time Erzberg winner not only finished tenth overall but did so aboard the electric JARV-E machine that he helped develop.
Many doubted whether the bike could survive the Iron Giant.
Jarvis responded by riding it into the top ten.
While Lettenbichler may now have matched Jarvis's record of five wins, the British legend once again demonstrated why he remains one of the most influential figures in hard enduro.
His top-ten finish may ultimately be remembered as one of the most important moments in the evolution of electric motorcycles in extreme enduro.
Only 15 Riders Beat The Mountain
The most brutal statistic from the day was the number of finishers.
Despite dry conditions and a relatively clean start, only 15 riders managed to reach the finish line before the four-hour cut-off.
Out of 500 starters, just three percent completed the race.
That figure highlights why Erzberg remains the toughest single-day challenge in off-road motorcycling.
It is not simply about speed. It is about endurance, problem-solving, mechanical reliability and surviving hours of punishment in terrain specifically designed to break both riders and machines.
The Chase For Number Six Begins
The 30th anniversary edition of the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo will be remembered for many reasons.
It delivered a historic fifth victory for Manuel Lettenbichler, breakthrough performances from the sport's next generation, and a landmark day for electric motorcycles.
But perhaps the biggest takeaway is that Lettenbichler's reign shows no signs of ending.
At just 28 years old, he has already joined Jarvis and Blazusiak on five wins.
Now, only one question remains.
Who can stop him from becoming the greatest Erzbergrodeo rider of all time?
