Hixpania The Lost Road 2026 Results, Mario Román Wins

Mario Román has taken victory in the final race of the 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, winning The Lost Road at Hixpania in Spain. The home favourite finished ahead of newly crowned world champion Manuel Lettenbichler, while Billy Bolt completed the provisional podium after winning the opening two races of the weekend.

According to the provisional classification, Román completed nine laps in 2 hours, 11 minutes and 18.43 seconds, finishing 1 minute and 0.82 seconds ahead of Lettenbichler. Bolt crossed the line third, more than five minutes behind the winner, as the demanding final race brought the 2026 season to a close.

The result provides a memorable finish to Hixpania for Román, who had placed seventh in Saturday's Campoo Extreme. After missing out on the front-running battle earlier in the weekend, the Spanish rider delivered when it mattered most, taking victory in the championship's final major test.

Román delivers when it matters at Hixpania

The Lost Road is a very different challenge from the short, intense SuperEncierro and the one-hour Campoo Extreme sprint. The main event tests riders over a longer course, with multiple laps and a decisive final challenge at Hixpania Hill. It rewards not just outright speed, but also endurance, consistency and the ability to manage a motorcycle over a demanding race distance.

Román's performance was particularly impressive because he did not arrive at Sunday's main event on the back of a podium finish. He had finished eighth in Friday's SuperEncierro final before taking seventh in Saturday's Campoo Extreme, but he found a different level in the season finale.

Our take: Román's win is a reminder of why hard enduro results can change dramatically from one race format to another. Bolt's short-course speed had made him the standout rider over the first two days, but The Lost Road demanded a different approach. Román produced the strongest overall result in the main race, finishing the season with a major victory on home soil.

Lettenbichler finishes second as Bolt takes third

Manuel Lettenbichler finished second, 1:00.82 behind Román. Having already secured his fifth consecutive world championship at Hixpania, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider still had to tackle the full challenge of The Lost Road against a competitive field.

Billy Bolt took third after his victories in the SuperEncierro and Campoo Extreme. The British Husqvarna rider recorded the quickest Hixpania Hill time among the top three in the supplied timing sheet, at 7:38.07. Lettenbichler recorded 7:39.39, while Román's time was 8:00.32.

That detail underlines an important point: the fastest run on the final hill did not correspond to the overall race winner. The Lost Road classification reflected the full event, and Román's performance across the race was enough to secure the top spot.

Strong results for the Brightmores and James Moore

Mitch Brightmore finished fourth in 2:20:33.78, ahead of James Moore in fifth. Moore completed the race in 2:21:59.70, while Ashton Brightmore took sixth in 2:24:02.92.

Teodor Kabakchiev finished seventh, followed by Wade Young in eighth. Francesc Moret Clota was ninth, while Lorenzo Gandola completed eight laps to finish tenth in the provisional classification.

The gaps behind the leading trio grew considerably over the course of the event, highlighting how physically demanding the final race was. Román's winning margin over Lettenbichler was just over a minute, but Bolt finished more than five minutes back, with the rest of the top ten spread over a much wider period.

Hixpania brings the 2026 hard enduro season to a close

The Lost Road served as the final major race of the 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship. With Lettenbichler's title already secured, Sunday was about the final event victory and ending the season on a high.

Bolt had been the rider to beat over the opening two races, but Román's performance in The Lost Road ensured the Spaniard took the headline result from the final day. Lettenbichler added another strong finish to his championship season, while the fight behind the top three produced a demanding final test for the leading hard enduro riders.

For Román, winning the season finale in Spain is an emphatic way to conclude the year. After finishing outside the top six in the first two races at Hixpania, he delivered when the longest and most demanding challenge arrived and took victory in the final race of the season.
